Conservation and Breeding

Species such as disease free African Buffalo, Sable and Roan have been illegally hunted to the brink of extinction, resulting in a limited number of surviving animals. Due to inbreeding, these animals have become weaker and less resilient to environmental pressures. To revive these species, the focus is on breeding bigger, stronger, and healthier animals.

Zasendle boasts some of the top genetics in the country, thanks to its sable and buffalo herds which have been selectively bred for their superior bloodlines. By using stud breeding bulls, Zasendle has successfully produced exceptional progeny.

Over the past five years, the average auction prices of the top five rare game species have experienced a remarkable annual growth rate of 49.14%. This performance surpasses that of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange's all share index, which grew at a rate of 6.65% per annum, and beef prices, which increased by 9.62% annually. Clearly, investing in rare game species breeding has proven to be a more lucrative agricultural investment compared to other options.
